Penang had been famous with mural art since Ernest Zacharevic made his first mural art, Kids on bike at Armenian street at year 2008. 12 years after Georgetown listed as UNESCO World Heritage site, Penang had been recognised as world capital of mural art. The entire Georgetown had been over flooded with mural art & the heritage charm are overshadowed. And it often become a disturbance to citizen as it in normally immediately next to people daily life.  Art on the Move is another attempt to redirect the mural art to bigger scale, serve as a place making catalyst to turn any under-utilised urban space to a vibrant public space. 3 site had been selected in Penang for 6 month before it adopted by others and hence, it create surprise and keep public engaged from time to time.

STATUS

Completed

The rapid proliferation of mural arts carries a double edged sword: on one hand, it elevates Penang's status as a global travel destination; on the other hand, it can be overwhelming and distracting. These "insta-worthy" spots risk altering George Town's identity from a heritage city to a mural art hub.

Container art installations are an experimental attempt to redirect the overwhelming influence of mural art on a larger scale. This mobility offers diverse opportunities to assess the place-making impact of specific installations.
